African Industries Group is seeking an experienced ESG Manager to lead the development and execution of Environmental, Social, and Governance strategies across its renewable energy and manufacturing operations in Nigeria.
This role sits at the intersection of compliance, sustainability, and project execution, ensuring alignment with global standards, local regulations, and investor expectations.
About the Role:
This is a leadership role with operational depth.
You will drive ESG integration across projects, ensuring that sustainability is not just reported but embedded into execution.
In this role, you will:
Develop and implement ESG policies aligned with IFC Performance Standards, Equator Principles, and UN SDGs.
Oversee environmental compliance, including EIA and ESIA processes, permitting, and monitoring of emissions, waste, water, and biodiversity impacts.
Lead stakeholder engagement, including community relations, grievance mechanisms, and social risk management.
Manage land acquisition and resettlement processes where required.
Integrate HSE systems into ESG frameworks and ensure contractor compliance with safety standards.
Prepare ESG reports and dashboards for investors, lenders, and executive leadership using frameworks such as GRI, TCFD, and ISSB.
Engage with regulators, development finance institutions, and key stakeholders to maintain compliance and transparency.
About You:
You are both strategic and field-aware.
You understand that ESG is not a report, it is a system that must hold under pressure.
To succeed in this role, you:
Have 8 to 10+ years of experience in ESG, sustainability, environmental, social, or HSE roles.
Possess strong knowledge of IFC Performance Standards, Equator Principles, and ESG reporting frameworks.
Have experience within renewable energy, manufacturing, infrastructure, or large-scale project environments.
Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering.
Have certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or ESG-related credentials (advantage).
Can manage complex stakeholder environments and regulatory expectations.
Are capable of translating global standards into practical, on-ground implementation.
